Abu Dhabi’s first air taxi location unveiled!

Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal in the city will be the location for the first official air taxi vertiport

The skies over Abu Dhabi are about to get a whole lot busier; in the coolest way possible.

The capital is getting ready to launch its first-ever flying taxi take-off point, and the location is officially locked in: right at the Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal.

There is also expected to be further vertiports added to the city in areas such as Al Bateen, Al Bateen, and Khalifa Port.

That’s right. What was once a regular old helipad is now being transformed into a high-tech ‘vertiport’; essentially an airport for flying cars (technically called eVTOLs, if we’re getting nerdy).

This sleek new spot will be the UAE’s first certified hybrid heliport, designed to welcome both traditional helicopters and electric air taxis.

In other words: traffic jams? Not your problem anymore.

This futuristic hub is being built to give passengers super-fast access to some of Abu Dhabi’s best bits; the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Saadiyat Cultural District, the Corniche, and Zayed Port are all just a few short minutes away by air.

So, whether you’re heading to a meeting or a museum, getting there might soon involve soaring above the city instead of sitting in traffic.

Who’s behind it?

Archer Aviation, the U.S. company pushing the limits of flying taxis, is leading the project, teaming up with Falcon Aviation and Abu Dhabi Aviation to make this vertiport a reality by the second half of 2025.

But it’s not just about cool new landing pads. The UAE is making major moves behind the scenes too, working on the world’s first set of official rules for hybrid air hubs like this one.

Those guidelines, expected to be ready by July, will make sure eVTOLs and helicopters can share the airspace safely and smoothly. Big moment for aviation.

What’s coming to the new vertiport?

  • Smart landing systems
  • Charging stations for electric aircraft
  • Safety and sustainability upgrades all around

So yeah, the future is literally landing in Abu Dhabi. Keep your eyes on the sky, because your next ride might just be battery-powered and blade-spinning.
