Abu Dhabi welcomes the region’s finest young musical talent
The stage is set for a musical extravaganza as The British School Al Khubairat (BSAK) welcomes the Young Musicians of the Gulf (YMOG) competition to Abu Dhabi for the first time.
From 27-30 January, 321 musicians from 23 schools will compete in strings, piano, voice, brass, woodwind, and percussion.
Established by St Christopher’s School in Bahrain in 1998, YMOG is the Gulf’s most celebrated musical event. The four-day competition includes solo and ensemble performances, culminating in the Grand Final at Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi on 30th January.
Helen Kerr, BSAK’s Director of Music, described the event as a celebration of talent and growth.
Meanwhile, Headmaster Mark Leppard MBE said, “YMOG brings together the Gulf’s finest young musicians, who showcase extraordinary talent well beyond their years. Watching these young adults perform complex and enchanting music with such grace and poise, often under immense pressure, is truly inspiring. Courage, dedication, passion, and talent will be on full display.”
The event features masterclasses from esteemed adjudicators, including Colonel David Barringer and Guy Johnston, and is supported by Her Excellency Huda Alkhamis-Kanoo, Barclays, and ADMAF.
