The UAE has officially confirmed the sighting of the crescent moon, marking the beginning of the sacred month of Dhu Al Hijjah and setting the dates for Eid Al Adha 2025.
In an announcement made by the Presidential Court, it was declared that today, Wednesday, 28th May 2025, will be the first day of Dhu Al Hijjah 1446. As a result, Friday, 6th June 2025, will be the first day of Eid Al Adha, while Arafat Day—the pinnacle of Hajj—will be observed on Thursday, 5th June.
In line with that, the Eid Al Adha public holidays will start on Thursday, 5th June, extending until Sunday, 8th June – making it a total of 4 days of a long weekend.

The statement from the Presidential Court extended heartfelt congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates; and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court. The message also included warm wishes for the people of the UAE and Muslims around the world.
“We pray to Almighty Allah to return this occasion upon our beloved nation and all with blessings, prosperity, and joy,” the statement read.
Earlier yesterday, Saudi Arabia also confirmed the sighting of the crescent moon, aligning the two nations in the observance of this holy period.
Eid Al Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the most significant events in the Islamic calendar, commemorating the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim (AS). The occasion is marked by special prayers, feasts, and the act of Qurbani (sacrifice), with the meat distributed among family, friends, and those in need.
